Terrain
Zhejiang Province is located on the southeastern coast of China and the southern wing of the Yangtze River Delta. It spans from 27°02′ north latitude to 31°11′ north latitude and from 118°01′ east longitude to 123°10′ east longitude. It faces the East China Sea to the east, is adjacent to Shanghai and Jiangsu to the north, connects with Fujian to the south, and is linked with Jiangxi and Anhui to the west. The straight-line distances from east to west and from north to south in Zhejiang are both about 450 kilometers. Its land area is 105,500 square kilometers, making it one of the provinces with a relatively small area in China. Its sea area is 260,000 square kilometers. There are 2,878 islands with an area of more than 500 square meters and 26 islands with an area of more than 10 square kilometers. It is the province with the largest number of islands in China.
In Zhejiang Province, mountains cover 74.6% of the total area, water surfaces account for 5.1%, and flat lands make up 20.3%. The terrain of Zhejiang has a stepped pattern that slopes from the southwest to the northeast. The northeastern region has a low and flat alluvial plain, while the eastern section mainly features hills and coastal plains. The central area is characterized by hills and basins, and the southwestern part is primarily composed of mountains and hills.
Administrative Divisions
Zhejiang is divided into 11 prefecture-level cities, including Hangzhou, Ningbo, Wenzhou, Shaoxing, Huzhou, Jiaxing, Jinhua, Quzhou, Taizhou, Lishui, and Zhoushan. Each city has its own unique characteristics and functions.
Hangzhou is the provincial capital and a major economic, cultural, and technological center. Ningbo is an important port city with a prosperous economy and strong international trade. Wenzhou is renowned for its vibrant private economy. These prefecture-level cities are further divided into numerous counties, county-level cities, and districts, which together form a comprehensive administrative system that promotes the social, economic, and cultural development of Zhejiang.
Distribution of main tourist attractions
Zhejiang Province is rich in tourist attractions, which are widely distributed in different cities. In Hangzhou, there is the famous West Lake in Xihu District, as well as Lingyin Temple and Feilai Peak in the same district. Also, Qiandao Lake in Chun'an County is a popular scenic spot.
In Ningbo, the Dongqian Lake Scenic Area is located in Yinzhou District. Tianyi Pavilion is in the west of Moon Lake in the city center2.
Wenzhou's main attractions include Yandang Mountain in Leqing City and Jiangxin Island in the urban area.
In Shaoxing, there are Lu Xun's Former Residence, Lanting Pavilion, etc. in Yuecheng District, and Anchang Ancient Town in Keqiao District.
Jinhua has the Hengdian World Studios in Dongyang City and the Jinhua Double Dragon Cave in Wucheng District.
Zhoushan is famous for Mount Putuo in Putuo District and Dongji Island in Dongji Town.
Taizhou's main attractions include Tiantai Mountain in Tiantai County and Shenxianju in Xianju County.
Quzhou has Jianglang Mountain in Jiangshan City and Nianbadu Ancient Town in the same city.
Lishui's attractions include Jinyun Xiandu in Jinyun County and Guyan Huaxiang in Liandu District.
