Day 1Almaty City Tour

Today your flight will touch down in Almaty. We will meet you at the airport exit with a welcome board. Then a comfortable drive will send you to the local hotel for check in.

After a rest at hotel, we will visit Alma-Arsan Resort (entry ticket included). It is one of the beautiful reserves offering an exhilarating and peaceful adventure surrounded by fresh air and stunning landscapes. Then enjoy walking along the river to observe the beauty of nature, visit Falcon Park, experience the traditional Kazakh yurt, and marvel at the waterfalls and the Valley of the Bears.

Next, let’s turn to Kok-Tobe (cable car ticket included), the kingdom of crystal-clear air, hospitality and inexhaustible delight. Kok-Tobe Park is one of the symbols of the city of Almaty and Kazakhstan, located at the peak of Mount Kok-Tobe at an altitude of 1,100 meters above sea level.

Day 2Almaty - Bishkek

The tour starts with the nice buffet in the hotel, then we will stop at the Republic Square, the main square in Almaty. It was built in 1980 and is used for public events.

Then continue to the Astana Square, which serves as a venue to host variety of public events, including concerts and ceremonies. It is situated in front of the Kazakh-British Technical University and features the monument of Aliya Moldagulova and Manshuk Mametova (two female heroes of the World War II).

Our last stop is 28 Panfilov Guardsmen Park. Here you can participate in the following activities: Eternal Flame - Feeding the Birds - Zenkov Cathedral “the architectural masterpiece built of wood without a single nail”.

In the afternoon, you will take the flight to Bishkek and upon arrival, we will  transfer you to the hotel for rest.

Day 3Bishkek City - Issyk Kul Northern Shore

Good morning! The first half of the day is dedicated to a guided Bishkek City Tour, which includes visiting the Pobeda Square (Victory Square), Duboviy Park (Oak Park), Central Ala-Too Square, Old Square, National Philharmonic, and many other places of interest.

After traditional lunch, you will be transferred to Issyk Kul Lake. Along the way, you can pay a visit to the Burana Tower (an 11th century minaret) and an open air museum of Balbals (stone warriors). Issyk Kul Lake is the second largest alpine lake in the world (1608m.above sea level), which is called "the pearl of Central Asia".

After that, enjoy your dinner and have a good night!

Day 4Issyk Kul - Bishkek - Tashkent

Morning after breakfast, we will drive back to Bishkek and you will take a flight to the city of Tashkent. Meet you at the airport exit of Tashkent with a welcome board. Then a comfortable drive will send you to the local hotel for check in. The rest of the day is free for you to explore this city. Have fun yourself and prepare for the next day!

Day 5Tashkent - Tajikstan (Dushanbe)

Morning excursion starts from visiting the old part of Tashkent which includes: Chorsu Bazaar, Kukaldash Madrasah and Hast Imam complex that consists of several madrasahs, mosques and mausoleum. The highlight of its exhibits is the Othman Quran which is the world's oldest Quran copy dating back to 8th century. Quran belonged to Othman Ibn Affan, the Third Caliph (of the four righteous Caliphs who succeeded the prophet Muhammad). Othman was killed by non-muslims in 8th century.

After lunch, you will take the flight to Dushanbe for another half day city tour.

Day 6Dushanbe - Penjikent

Today's highlight is a morning excursion to Penjikent. The city of Penjikent ("five villages") is located in Khujand area of Tajikistan in a picturesque Zeravshan river valley. The five villages originated during the remarkable history of 5th-8th centuries AD. Penjikent in that time was one of the most important cultural and crafts centers of Sogd. It was even named "Central Asian Pompeii". It was a superbly fortified well-organized city with a ruler's palace, two temples, markets, rich dwelling houses decorated with numerous paintings, wooden and clay statues of ancient gods. The ruins of this ancient city were found only in the last century.

Today you can see the remains of dwelling houses and office buildings, the citadel with the palace, the house of craftsmen, and fire worshipers church.

After visiting, have a good rest at your hotel and look forward to the next day!

Day 7Penjikent - Samarkand City Tour (Tajik-Uzbek border) - Khiva

This wonderful day will start from visiting Samarkand via Tajik-Uzbek border Jartepa. Samarkand is located in the valley of the river Zerafshan. As the second largest city of Uzbekistan, it is of the same long history as city of Babylon or Rome.

Today you will visit its most outstanding sights such as Registan Square, Shakhi-Zindeh, Mausoleum Guri Emir and Bibi Khanum Mosque. Registan Square is a complex of three fascinating Madrasahs back to 15-17th centuries. The main highlight of Samarkand is that no person can stop admiring its beauty and majesty. Architectural complex of Shakhi-Zindeh represents a big collection of mausoleums back to 11-15th centuries being a part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Bibi Khanum Mosque was built in honor of favorite Tamerlane's wife, after his successful campaign in India.

Then in the evening, you will take the overnight train to Khiva.

Day 8the Oldest City Khiva

Today enjoy a full day wonderful sightseeing tour in the oldest city of Uzbekistan. It is inside of Ichan-Qala, the inner city in Khiva round with strong walls. Centuries aged buildings, palaces, mosques, Madrasahs, Mausoleums, Minarets, Caravan-Sarais and Bathhouses transformed Ichan-Qala into a unique city-monument. Ichan-Qala consists of over 400 traditional dwelling houses and about 60 architectural monuments. In 1969, Ichan-Qala was designated as a historical and architectural conservation area. The most remarkable sites in it are the Kunya-Ark fortress dating back to 17th century, found by Muhammad Arang Khan, Kalta Minor minaret and Tash Khouvli palace, an incredible sample of Khorezm architectural mastership of 1830s.

Day 9Khiva - Shavat/Dashoguz Border - Turkmenistan (Darvaza)

In the morning, we will transfer you to Shavat/Dashoguz border to Turkmenistan, and visit the architectural monuments of Kone-Urgench, Khorezm capital during 10th-12th centuries.

During the tour, we will visit the Mausoleum of Najm al-Din al-Kubra, Tyurabek-Khanum, Il-Arslan, Tekesh Ibn Hadzhibey, and the highest minaret in Central Asia KutlykTimur.

Then drive to the most unique site in Central Asia--Darvaza - Gas crater. We will arrive in Darvaza before sunset. Enjoy your barbeque dinner near the burning gas crater; watch and make photos of the crater during the night time. Have a good rest!

Day 10Darvaza - Ashgabat City Exploration

The journey will begin from driving 4hrs to explore the capital of Turkmenistan. Ashgabat was founded in 1881, located to north of the border with Iran at the Kopet Dag foothills. It was named after a Persian word “eshg” which means love and “abad”, (menas populated and well-maintained).

Here, we will visit new parks, a huge complex with fountains and statues of the great men of antiquity, museums and mosques.

Then enjoy your night and have a good rest!

Climate and Altitude

Generally speaking Mid March—End Oct are the best time to visit Silk Road. And we strongly suggest you come in May, June, October to avoid the heat and crowd. No need to worry about high altitude along the Silk Road. We will prepare Oxygen bags if the package includes Xiahe, Qinghai Lake and Taxkorgan County.
