Day 1Hohhot Arrival

Today you will arrive at Hohhot, the capital of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in northern China. It is the most important city in Inner Mongolia and is home to 36 different ethnic groups. Upon ariival, our local guide will meet you at airport or train station.and then transfer to hotel for checking in.

Day 2Hohhot Exploration

In the morning, local guide will meet you at Hohhot hotel and then depart for the Inner Mongolia Museum with ethnic characteristics, visit the most authoritative exhibition group of northern nomadic nationalities in China, and the largest Cretaceous dinosaur fossils in the world, to understand the historical process of the origin, development and sublimation of the Mongolian Plateau.

Then, you will be arranged to Dazhao Temple will be arranged. Dazhao Temple is the most beautiful temple in Hohhot and guest favorite pagoda. Following of Gelugpa sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Following of Gelugpa sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Stroll around the Islamic Street.

Day 3Hohhot - Huiteng Xile Grassland (108kms, 1-2hrs driving)

After breakfast at the hotel, we will head to the Huiteng Xiler Grassland, one of the world's three major alpine meadow grasslands. After arriving, go to the Huanghuagou Ecological Address Park, known as the "Daqingshan Address Museum", to experience the grassland experience of "four seasons in one day, one step and four scenes", watch the large-scale nomadic style performance of the grassland, and stay in the grassland yurt at night.

Day 4Huiteng Xile Grassland - Xilamuren Grassland (200kms, 2-3hrs driving)

Today we will drive to the Xilamuren Grassland, pass through the Yinshan Mountains and the Big Green Hill, and enjoy the natural scenery of the Big Green Hill along the way. Upon arrival, go to the Flower Sea of the Xilamuren Grassland Ranch to learn the love story of the third daughter of Genghis Khan, the Princess of Jianguo, and then visit the local livestock garden to experience the grassland archery and shooting experience, take photos in Mongolian costumes, learn Mongolian, taste Mongolian milk tea and other entertainment activities.

For lunch, we will enjoy the first Mongolian court banquet - Zhama banquet, and wear Mongolian aristocratic costumes throughout the meal (serving of individual dishes), and enjoy Mongolian song and dance performances, the horse-head violin performances, Mongolian long tunes, Mongolian Hoomei, etc.

After lunch, we are going to red koal obo , the largest Obo in the grassland. Then, sacrificing Aobao, viewing folk customs, and enjoy livestock of goats, sheep, cattle, horses, camels (including Mongolian men's three performances), watch "The Legend of Monan" - the Spirit of the Golden Gobi Horse, and the large-scale live equestrian drama of prairie praying for blessings. After the visit, go to the Mongolian yurt camp to carry out the most solemn welcome ceremony for the Mongolian people to receive friends from afar - the dismounting wine welcome ceremony, and attend the bonfire party after dinner. Overnight in the grassland yurts (the best traditional yurts in the grassland).

Day 5Xilamuren Grassland - Wudang Monastery(147kms, 3hrs) - Baotou (50kms, 1hr)

Watch the sunrise on the grassland in the morning, and have free activities after breakfast on the grassland (you can choose to participate in horseback riding / wheeling experience at your own expense). After the activities, drive to Wudang Monastery, one of China's key cultural relics protection units and one of China's four famous Tibetan Buddhist temples. Wudang Monastery is as famous as the Potala Palace in Tibet, the Thar Temple in Qinghai, and the Kangbuling Temple in Gansu. It is the largest Tibetan Buddhist temple in Inner Mongolia. Then, we drive to Baotou. Visit the Saihantala Ecological Park, the largest natural grassland area in Chinese cities, and stroll through the ecological park to look for spotted deer. After dinner, check into the hotel to rest and stay in Baotou for the night.

Day 6Baotou - Wuliangsu Sea - Kubuqi Desert (145kms, 1-2hrs driving)

After breakfast at the hotel, drive to Wuliangsu Sea, one of the eight major freshwater lakes in China and the hometown of China's mute swans, Wuliangsu Sea is the largest lake in the Yellow River Basin. Upon arrival, sail through the picturesque reeds and get up close and personal with the birds. After the activity, drive to the hinterland of the Kubuqi Desert, and experience the desert camel (1 hour) after arrival, feel the unique charm of the original desert, and stay in the desert hotel for the night.

Day 7Kubuqi Desert - Ordos (98kms, 1-2hrs diving)

Watch the desert sunrise in the morning, and after breakfast in the desert, go on a wild and exciting desert off-road vehicle crossing tour (15 kilometers of original desert hinterland), take a super cool off-road vehicle, experience the passion when diving down from the sand slope and the excitement of slope drifting, after the experience, take a car to China's first urban 4A-level scenic spot Kangbashi, watch the Mongolian Chess Square, Visit the Ordos Wedding Cultural Park, watch the whole process of traditional Mongolian weddings through sculptures, and learn about Chinese folk weddings and love culture.

After that, we will go to the Mausoleum of Genghis Khan, a national intangible cultural heritage of China, one of the top 40 tourist attractions in China, and the world's largest tourist area with the theme of Genghis Khan culture and Mongolian culture, and learn about the legendary experience of the first Great Khan of the Mongolian Empire through the long scroll of Mongolian history. After the visit, check in to the hotel to rest and stay in Ordos for the night.

Day 8Ordos - Laoniuwan (190kms, 2.5hrs driving)

After breakfast at the hotel, drive to the Laoniuwan Scenic Area of the Yellow River Grand Canyon, which is known as the "First Bay of the Yellow River", enjoy the magnificent and beautiful scenery of the Yellow River Inlet along the Yellow River Trail, and listen to the beautiful legend of Shenniuli Bay. Visit the Jiuqu Yellow River Formation, feel the charm of the Yellow River, go to Laoniuwan Fort, watch the characteristic caves, feel the unique cave culture in Northwest China, taste the intangible cultural heritage food soup cake for dinner, and stay in the characteristic caves in Northwest China after dinner.

Day 9Laoniuwan - Hohhot (200kms, 2-3hrs driving)

After breakfast at the hotel, dive to Shengle Ancient City, Helinger, and returned to Hohhot after the visit, and visited the Shengle Museum, the only characteristic museum in China with the theme of Xianbei history and culture, and learned about the glorious history of Xianbei, a nomadic people in northern China for more than 140 years. The Zhaojun Museum, one of the largest Han tombs in China, is a national key cultural relics protection unit in China, and you can experience the "Zhaojun Culture" that has been passed down through the ages, visit the world's only Xiongnu Cultural Center, the Chinese Historical Heqin Cultural Center and Shan Yu Dajiao, and stay in Hohhot at night.

Climate and Altitude

Generally speaking Mid March—End Oct are the best time to visit Silk Road. And we strongly suggest you come in May, June, October to avoid the heat and crowd. No need to worry about high altitude along the Silk Road. We will prepare Oxygen bags if the package includes Xiahe, Qinghai Lake and Taxkorgan County.
