Day 2Guizhou Exploration: Balinghe Bridge Marvel and Huangguoshu Waterfall Spectacle

After breakfast, you'll drive to visit Balinghe Bridge, with a height of 370 mtrs from deck to water, the Balinghe River bridge is the tenth highest bridge in China. Located near the Huangguoshu waterfall. Of the world’s 300 or so highest bridges, Balinghe is unique for having the 5th longest span length with a distance between towers of 1088 mtrs-nearly as long as the Golden Gate bridge! The gap is so great, the bridge appears to be floating among the clouds as it connects two mountain ranges. Balinghe is one of 4 high Chinese suspension bridges with extremely long spans.

In the afternoon, you'll drive to visit the Huangguoshu Waterfall(2h), one of the largest waterfalls in China and East Asia. The area is Guizhou’s number one tourist attraction. 101 meters wide, plunging 78 meters down into Xiniu Pool (Rhinoceros Pool), an 11-meter deep rhinoceros-shaped pool, and sending foam up to a height of 100 meters. The roar of the water can be heard some kilometers away. Approximately 300 years ago, the famous Chinese explorer/geologist Xu Xiake was quoted saying, “the foams rise from the rocks like a mist. The waterfall is with such a momentum that even the couplet ‘a screen of pearl released from hooks/or silk that hangs on faraway peaks’ cannot describe to the full its majesty”. Then drive back to Guiyang and overnight at Guiyang Novotel.

Day 3Libo's Wonders: Xiao Qi Kong's Fairyland and the Natural Bridge

After having breakfast, we'll set off for a 3.5-hour drive to the enchanting Seven Small Arches Scenic Park, or Xiao Qi Kong. This place is truly a hidden gem! It's a narrow valley nestled in the natural forest. Just wait until you see it–the green water lakes are so clear and beautiful, the waterfalls cascading down from the karst cliffs are simply magnificent, and the forests are like something out of a postcard.

Next, we'll take a bamboo raft to the Daqikong scenic spot. There, we'll get to see the amazing Natural Bridge, which is known as the “Oriental Arch of Triumph”. It has a fascinating history. Originally, it was the top of an underground river. Around 12,000 years ago, during the Late Quaternary Period, due to the uplift of the Earth’s crust and the erosion of the underground river, part of the top collapsed, leaving behind the Natural Bridge we see today. After that, it's just a 0.5-hour drive to Libo, where we'll stay for the night. I'm sure you'll all enjoy today's journey!

Dear travelers, after breakfast, we'll hit the road and drive to Langde. This is no ordinary village; it's a Miao ethnic village brimming with rich culture and traditions. The Miao people have a preference for living near rivers and amidst mountains, and you'll soon see why. It's a beautiful and practical choice. And did you know? Because of the mountainous climate here, they build their homes with wood. Wood is great for ventilation, keeping the houses cool in the summer and warm in the winter. It's a wonderful example of how they've adapted to their environment over the years. After exploring Langde, in the afternoon, we'll make our way to Kaili market. This is a place full of energy and local flavor. You can wander through the stalls, browse all kinds of interesting local products, from handicrafts to delicious snacks.
