Day 1Beijing Arrival

Day 2Hiking Mutianyu Great Wall

We have toured some ancient buildings in Beijing, today we are going to visit the Mutianyu Great Wall and some modern landmarks in Beijing. 

After enjoying the delicious breakfast at the hotel, our tour guide will bring you to head to visit the Mutianyu Great Wall, Lies in Huairou County, Mutianyu Section is 73 kilometres away from Beijing City. Meanwhile, when we back to the urban area, you can also take a photo stop at the 2008 Olympic Site to see the Bird's Nest National Stadium and Water Cube Aquatic Centre.

Day 3Discover Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven and Summer Palace

Today is another day to explore culture and history in Beijing.

At 08:00, we will pay a visit to Tianan Men Square for 30 mintes, Continue the 3hrs exploration in Forbidden City, also called Palace Museum. Walk on the steps of the most magnificent and splendid palace complex in China. Feel the enchant atmosphere or to foresee the Emperors were ruling this great county. The Hollywood Movie “The Last Emperor” highly recommended before your visiting.

After Lunch in the local Restaurant, make our way to Temple of Heaven,1-2hrs walking through the vast beautiful park to enjoy the impressive architecture and interesting story of the Chinese Emperors prayed for good harvest.

Our final stop is the Summer Palace, a imperial garden consisting of vast ensemble of lakes, gardens and palaces in China. You can take the boat cross the island and then walk over to the temple on the hill. The climb up the stairs might be bit tired but so worth to enjoy incredible view from the top.

Day 4Flight to Datong, Visit Yungang Grottoes and Hanging Temple

Take the morning flight to Datong from Beijing at 6 am. meet guide and start our splendid trip at Datong, Morning arrive in Datong, we will meet you at the train station, then our tour guide will bring you to visit the Yungang Caves, where you can see amazing Buddhist carving craftsmanship from thumb-sized figurines to a 12 metres Buddhist statues, and then visit the 1500-year-old Hanging Monastery with its halls and pavilions built along the natural contours of the cliff.

Yungang Caves is one of the three major cave clusters in China, punctuate the north cliff of Wuzhou Mountain, Datong. The area was excavated along the mountain, extending 1 km (0.62 miles) from east to west, revealing 53 caves and over 51,000 stone statues. The Caves are divided into the east, middle, and west parts. Pagodas dominate the eastern parts; west caves are small and mid-sized with niches.

Hanging Monastery: Hanging Monastery stands at the foot of Mt. Hengshan, 5 kilometres (3 miles) south of Hunyuan County, and 65 kilometres (40 miles) from downtown Datong City. Since it hangs on the west cliff of Jinxia Gorge more than 50 metres above the ground, it is called Hanging Monastery. Hanging Monastery, built in 491, has survived more than 1400 years.

Day 5Datong flight back to Beijing

Climate and Altitude

Generally speaking Mid March—End Oct are the best time to visit Silk Road. And we strongly suggest you come in May, June, October to avoid the heat and crowd. No need to worry about high altitude along the Silk Road. We will prepare Oxygen bags if the package includes Xiahe, Qinghai Lake and Taxkorgan County.
