Day 1Arrive in Beijing

Nihao, welcome to Beijing, the capital of China. Be transferred to the hotel. Relax and prepare for your Natural wonders and Culture Adventure.

Day 2Visit the Great Wall

As the most famous and popular site the Great Wall, we will start early at 7:00 before the big groups arrive. After 2hr’s driving, enjoy the cable car ride to the wall is peaceful and scenic. It is a fantastic experience to walking on the well-maintained wall where you also need a lot of water or an umbrella in the 2hr’s visiting. Lunch will be arranged in the courtyard at the foot of the Great Wall.

Drive back to the city and visit the Bird's Nest National Stadium and Water Cube Aquatic Centre en route. Back hotel around 6pm.

Day 3Beijing City Tour, then Flight to Xi'an

Today is another day to explore culture and history in Beijing.

 

At 08:00, we will pay a visit to Tianan Men Square for 30 mintes, Continue the 3hrs exploration in Forbidden City, also called Palace Museum. Walk on the steps of the most magnificent and splendid palace complex in China. Feel the enchant atmosphere or to foresee the Emperors were ruling this great county. The Hollywood Movie “The Last Emperor” highly recommended before your visiting

 

After Lunch in the local Restaurant, make our way to Temple of Heaven,1-2hrs walking through the vast beautiful park to enjoy the impressive architecture and interesting story of the Chinese Emperors prayed for good harvest

 

Our final stop is the Summer Palace, a imperial garden consisting of vast ensemble of lakes, gardens and palaces in China. You can take the boat cross the island and then walk over to the temple on the hill. The climb up the stairs might be bit tired but so worth to enjoy incredible view from the top.


Then take the flight to Xi'an, transfer you to hotel for rest.

Day 4Visit Terracotta Warriors, Big Wild Goose Pagoda, Tang Paradise

Tour starts at 08:00 and then drive 1 hour to get close to the incredible Terracotta Warriors in China’s first Emperor’s Tomb built 2300 years ago,the most significant archaeological excavations of the 20th century.

 

After lunch in the local restaurant, head to ancient architecture and a holy place for Buddhists.- Big Goose Pagoda,The restored Buddha and building are beautiful with spectacular timber work and gilded features are recently built by donors, they make a fine job of explaining the role of Buddhism in China’s history.

 

Continue our sightseeing of Tang Paradise, which features numerous buildings, squares, and gardens, all incorporating features of traditional Tang Chinese architecture.

Then drive to the hotel and have a good rest.

Day 5Visit Shaanxi Museum and Ancient City Wall

Today is an another day to explore the history and culture in Xi’an.

 

First we pay a visit to Shaanxi History Museum, a treasure trove for anyone interested in the art facts of Chinese history. Exhibits numerous unearthed cultural artifacts and represents the imposing image of a 13-dynasties capital.

Afterwards, head up to the Ancient City Wall, the most well-preserved city wall and the largest ancient military defensive systems in the world. It is an amazing to wander along the city wall with the bird's-eye view of Xi’an.

Day 6Flight to Lhasa and Visit Barkor Street

Say farewell to Xi'an to catch the flight to Lhasa, which takes about 4.5 hours. You will arrive in the holy region of Tibet in the afternoon to adapt to altitude stress.

Lhasa is at an altitude of 3,650 meters (12,000 feet) and you may experience altitude sickness. The rest of the day is for you to take a rest at your hotel.


Then stroll along the must-visit Barkor Street with 1.5 kilometers length and 9 meters width where vendors sell various goods including snakes, gifts,and cosmetics.

 

In the evening, return to the hotel and refresh up.

Day 7Visit Potala Palace and Johkang Temple

A full day will arrange for you to explore Lhasa city. At 8.00, you will drive for 20mins to visit Potala Palace, which is the landmark of Tibet for its long history and delicate architecture. Standing at the top of the palace, you can take in everything of Lhasa city and plateau scenery far away at a glance. You will also see a lot of splendid artworks and religious treasures here.

 

Afterwards, drive another 20mins to the Jokhang Temple, a building built in  7 century by absorbing the architecture style of Tibetan, India and Nepal. You will know something about the past Tibet through visiting various statues and wall paintings.

 

Return to the hotel and have a good rest.

Day 8Visit Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery

Today is another day to explore Lhasa. Budget 3hrs at Drepung Monastery, the largest monastery in Tibet located at the foot of Mount Gephel. It is the Tibetan Buddhism(Gelug) monastery and one of the “great three” monasteries in Tibet. You will have an opportunity learning some history and culture of Gelug as well as the magnificent view of a large number of white buildings like a heap of rice lying in the hillside.

 

Then head to another Gelug monastery-Sera Monastery. There you will successively visit The Great Assembly Hall, Je Dratsang and Me Dratsang in this building. The most interesting activities here is watching monks debating at courtyard by listening them argue some knowledge about Buddhism.

 

Back to the hotel and enjoy a good night.

Day 9Drive to Gyantse and Visit Yamdrotso Lake

Today you will head to next place Gyantse(altitude: 4010-4050m) with a distance of 300kms for driving 4.5hrs. On the way, you will stop to visit Yamdrok Lake- a beautiful freshwater lake in the south of Tibet. It is surrounded by snow-capped mountains, lush meadows and lively animals. Wander around the lake, breath the fresh air and enjoy your leisure time at lakeside.


Continue your trip and reach the beautiful Karola Glacier, take a short stop and get close to the natural overwhelming glaciers.

 

Then arrive in Gyantse to visit a different style of monastery in Tibet—Pelkor Monastery. You will explore the different Zhacangs to witness the life of monks. Later stroll to Gyantse Kumbum to see Buddha stupa where 100,000 images about major religious figure sculptures and wall paintings is here. If you want to have a better knowledge of Buddhist culture, you cannot miss this spot.

 

Afterwards drive for 1hr to Shigatse which is 100kms away from Gyantse. Check in the hotel and rest of day is free at leisure.

Day 10Tashilunpo Monastery and Return to Lhasa

Today get up early to visit one of the four major monasteries in Tibet—Tashilunpo Monastery founded in 15th century by first Dalai Lama Gedun Dropa. There you can visit chapel Jampa, tomb stupas of fourth and tenth Panchen Lama and assemble halls etc. Then you will have a river view of Brahmaputra to experience the spectacular geological landscape.

 

In the afternoon, you will drive back to Lhasa, which will take around 6 hours(Shigatse to Lhasa's transfer perhaps by train). Check in the hotel and prepare for your tomorrow's departure.

Day 11Flight to Shanghai

Today we will take a long flight of 5 hours from the west to east across China to reach Shanghai, one of the most prosperous city in China and the global financial center. Upon arrival, your driver will pick up and transfer you to the hotel to check in.

Day 12Shanghai City Tour

A full day for you to explore Shanghai City. Tour begins from visiting a traditional Chinese Garden- Yu Garden eatablished in the period of Ming Dynasty(1368-1644). Though in a small size, it covers all the elements pavilions, halls, rockeries, ponds and corridors that a garden boast. Walk through the garden and enjoy a tranquil time by yourself. Then head to Shanghai Xintiandi, an international shopping and entertainment district. Roaming here, you will amazed by the China's rapid development.

 

Afterwards, you will visit one of the symbol of Shanghai- Bund. Lying along the side of Huangpujiang River with various architectural styles, Bund is recognized as "the museum of buildings". Stroll along the buildings, appreciate the beautiful scenery as well as feeling the charm of this century-long historical architectural ensembles.

Generally speaking Mid March—End Oct are the best time to visit Silk Road. And we strongly suggest you come in May, June, October to avoid the heat and crowd. No need to worry about high altitude along the Silk Road. We will prepare Oxygen bags if the package includes Xiahe, Qinghai Lake and Taxkorgan County.
