Hi Leah,  We have completed our Silk Road tour and thank you and Lesley for making our trip so memorable. You have been an excellent delight to deal with as you are courteous and all our queries sent to you were answered promptly and professionally.🙏. 

We booked two separate tours with the company, one to Xinjiang (Kashgar, Urumqi, and Turpan) and the other to Shenzhen and Fujian area. And we were not disappointed at all.

W've taken 7 Rick Steve's and 15 Gate 1 Travel's tours. The one in China was with Gate 1 Discovery covering Beijing to Shanghai in 15 days. However, this tour didn't cover some parts of China we wanted to visit, like Xinjiang, Guangdong and Fujian prefectures. Despite excitement for visiting China, we were also concerned about political and language barriers. So after extensive research and communication with various companies, we found Silk Road Travel (silkroadtravel.com) to be a comforting and understanding option.

The tour director handled all details from airport pickup to departure, with English-speaking guides and drivers. Three local tour managers went above and beyond to ensure we were well-informed and taken care of throughout the journey, from historical facts to insider tips. The tour offered an immersive experience in local culture and stunning landscapes. The breathtaking scenery, including majestic mountains, crystal-clear lakes, and lush greenery, provided a postcard-worthy backdrop. The sense of awe and wonder amidst such natural beauty was unparalleled. The tour also provided an opportunity to explore local markets, historical sites, and savor delicious traditional food.

After days of immersing ourselves in nature's tranquility, we explored vibrant urban areas, showcasing skyscrapers, bustling streets, trendy cafes, and historic landmarks. These areas were a melting pot of culture, history, and modernity, showcasing the vibrant energy and beauty of urban life.

What truly set this tour (in Xinjiang) apart was the seamless transition between the serene natural landscapes and the dynamic urban scenes. It was a journey that offered the best of both worlds.

We highly recommend Silk Road Travel. Since they specialize in Central Asian region, we have plans to book additional tours covering other areas in upcoming years.

Thank you for arranging this trip for all of us. We all have a great time in Xinjiang with good tour guides and drivers to show us around.  Other than experiencing the local train ride which is something we never tried before. It’s not too bad actually and we are glad that we are able to make it to Dunhuang on the same day. Thank you and wish you all the best.🥰😘

Thank you for a great holiday that had been arranged. The hotels recommended were all good and we especially liked the one in Dunhuang which is big and comfortable. Even Hoitak in Urumqi which is rather dated but the rooms and toilets are squeaky clean and they don't smell old like in some old hotels.

My only feedback is Mercure in Turpan, when I told them that my room smelt of cigarette smoke and someone els belongings were in there, they quickly changed the room as the occupant was supposed to vacate.

The front desk knew the guest smoke and he even smoke along the corridor which was so unpleasant but they didn't do anything. Quite bad for a known Chain hotel brand .

Our guide Aman was there to help us in the room change all along as he wanted to make sure our rooms are ok.

All your contracted drivers and guides were excellent too.
