Day 1Giant Panda Base and City Exploration

Get up early, after breakfast, and you will hop in a car and explore Giant Panda Base, the only panda base in China. If you are animal lovers, this tour is an ideal one for you. You will have a chance to be a volunteer to feed and clean panda and observe their behavior closely.

 

You are followed by a trip to the Wenshu Temple, where you can sit in its tea house for a cup of traditional Chinese tea. Then, move on to the Wuhou Memorial Temple, which was built in the 6th century in memory of Emperor Liu Bei and the Prime Minister Zhuge Liang of the Shu Kingdom. Later, you will dip into Kuan & Zhai Alley, a famous commercial and cultural pedestrian street in China. There is a lot of delicious food, and you can enjoy your lunch here. Then visit today's final site People's Park. The park was built in 1911. It is now a relaxing place for locals. Enjoy the delicacy scenery and appreciate various flower shows. Drink tea is a must-do thing for you.

Day 2Visit Leshan Giant Buddha (144 kms)

Spend two-hour drive and visit Leshan Giant Buddha, which is a huge statue carved into the side of Lingyun Mountain. Taller by 17 meters than the standing Buddha in Afghanistan, the Leshan Giant Buddha is the tallest and largest Buddha in the world. It is carved on the cliff of Lingyun Mountain with a delicate design of drainage system. There is a local saying: "The mountain is a Buddha and the Buddha is a mountain". It was included by UNESCO on the list of World Heritage sites.

Day 3Mount Qingcheng and Dujiangyan Irrigation System

Morning our professional and friendly guide will meet you up in the hotel lobby by holding a sign of your name on it. We will drive about 2 hours to Mount Qingcheng. It has a beautiful peak near the city, and another notable peak sits behind it. These peaks are called "Front Mountain" and "Back Mountain". Enjoy the temples and beautiful scenery on the mountain.

 

Then we will drive to Dujiangyan (40 minutes). Get into the Dujiangyan Irrigation System. For thousands of years, it has helped to make Sichuan a prosperous agricultural province in China. Walk across a bridge, and climb up the hill to see Taoist temples on the mountain. If you don't want to climb uphill, you can get back by the electronic cart.

Climate and Altitude

Generally speaking Mid March—End Oct are the best time to visit Silk Road. And we strongly suggest you come in May, June, October to avoid the heat and crowd. No need to worry about high altitude along the Silk Road. We will prepare Oxygen bags if the package includes Xiahe, Qinghai Lake and Taxkorgan County.
