Day 1Xining Arrival, Visit Ta'er Monastery and Nanshan Park

Today your flight will touch down in Xining. Upon arrival, be met and bring you to visit Ta'er monastery (Kumbum Monastery), the most populous monks outside of Tibet. You will stay at Thangka Sunning Terrace that is one of a good place to view the monastery and surrounding scenery. Inside the monastery, apart from magnificent Buddha stupas and wall paintings, prayer wheels are also the must-see spot. The whole monastery is surrounded by wheels, walk along the corridor, rotate the wheels and pray for chasing away the troubles. Then enjoy a walking tour at the most beautiful Nanshan Park, There are many local people coming to exercise every day and children play in the children's playground. The colorful waterfall of the park is also a unique scenery in Xining. Atop the Octagonal pavilion in the park, you will have a panoramic view of Xining city.

Day 2Trekking in Kanbula National Park, then drive to Guide (190kms)

Our professional guide will pick you up from the hotel lobby, then start your trekking in Kanbula National Park. Kanbula is well-known for the magnificent unique Danxia landform, and the landscape is mainly featured by wonderful peaks, precipitous, hills, caves, cliffs and many rock peaks, stone columns and stone walls. Meanwhile, it is also a world of natural plants and a paradise of wild animals. In summer, visitors can enjoy the shade and cool breezes and in autumn they can view a sea of red leaves and immerse themselves in the most spectacular landscape. They appreciate not only the fresh and tranquil natural environment but also the cultural inspiration drawn from the sites of the cultural interest. Coming out from Kanbula, we will travel to Guide for overnight stay.

Day 3Visit Longyangxia Gorge and Qinghai Lake

The journey will begin from the spectacular Longyangxia Gorge, the first gorge in the Yellow River Valley Area, the largest dam in Asia is located here. On one side of the valley is the steep Chana mountain, on the other side is the continuous wilderness, and in the middle is flat Basin. After the exploration, we will travel to enjoy the magnificent scenery of Qinghai Lake, which is the largest inland salt water lake in China. It is no exaggeration to say that Qinghai Lake is a miracle that is endowed by a deity. Outside, He encircled the lake with four continuous mountains and extends broad grassland at the foot of them. Stay at the hotel near the Qinghai Lake tonight.

Day 4Leisure Walk at Qunjia Forest Farm, Visit Xiaqiong Temple (210kms)

Enjoy the picturesque scenery and fresh air, then we will say farewell to Qinghai Lake and travel back to Xining. On the way, enjoy a walking tour at the stunning Qunjia Forest Farm, a paradise for wild animals and plants. Surrounded by mountains, the birds were flying about and singing with joy, and flowers were looking up through the green grass. Thereafter, proceed the journey to Xiaqiong Temple, One of the oldest Tibetan Buddhist temples in Qinghai. You will explore the culture and history of Tibetan Buddhism. Travel back to Xining in the late afternoon.

Day 5Train to Zhangye, Visit Giant Buddha Temple

Morning take the express train from Xining to Zhangye. Be met and start your journey from the Giant Buddha Temple, which is one of the important travel destinations of the Silk Road, where you can visit the largest indoor clay statue of Buddha in China and the exquisite mural sculptures plus the ancient buildings. you will see the largest and well-preserved reclining Buddha in this temple.

After visiting, transfer to Linze county with about 1hr driving. You will spend a night in the unique Kaoshan Tent.

Day 6Explore the mysterious Danxia Landform

Spend a whole day to explore the mysterious Danxia Landform. Stretching 25 miles (40 kilometers) from west to east, Danxia precipices, stone columns, aiguilles and hills are widely distributed in this region. The narrow hills in the Binggou Danxia are all pointing to the sky, making this valley the Red Stone Forest of the Great Northwest. Viewed from a distance, the rolling hills look like temples, pagodas, and figures of Buddha, making the valley a natural Buddhist land. 

After lunch, we will pay a visit to the natural wonders Zhangye Danxia National Geological Park, which is situated in the north of Qilian mountains with a distance of 40 km from east Zhangye city. You will be marveled by the colorful layers of mountain ridges in the 4hr's adventure to the different platforms.

Climate and Altitude

Generally speaking Mid March—End Oct are the best time to visit Silk Road. And we strongly suggest you come in May, June, October to avoid the heat and crowd. No need to worry about high altitude along the Silk Road. We will prepare Oxygen bags if the package includes Xiahe, Qinghai Lake and Taxkorgan County.
