Day 1Flight to Shanghai

Today we will take a long flight of 5 hours from the west to east across China to reach Shanghai, one of the most prosperous city in China and the global financial center. Upon arrival, your driver will pick up and transfer you to the hotel to check in.

  • Shanghai has two international airports, Pudong International Airport and Hongqiao International Airport.

  • Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport is located in the western suburb of Shanghai, about 13 kilometres away from the city centre.

  • Pudong International Airport is located in the coastal area of Pudong, Shanghai, about 30 kilometres away from the city centre.

Day 2Shanghai City Tour

This morning, our tour guide will bring you to look around the Shanghai Museum, where you can see some historical relics such as bronzes, ceramics, paintings and so on. Pay a visit to the Yu Garden, which was once a private garden in the Ming Dynasty. Out of the Yu Garden, you can walk around the Yuyuan Market to find some interesting souvenirs, and then proceed to the Jiangnan Silk Workshop to see the silk production.

Ramble at the Bund to feel the breeze caressing your cheeks. Later, you will head to the Shanghai World Financial Centre to witness the modern Shanghai.

Optional: After dinner, you will have another choice to enjoy an exciting and unforgettable acrobatic show if you want to further explore Shanghai city.

  • Opening time of Shanghai Museum: 09:00-17:00 from Tuesday to Sunday, closed on Monday.

  • It takes 12 mins ( 3.2 km ) from Shanghai Museum to Yu Garden.

  • Yuyuan Garden is a famous scenic spot and tourist attraction at home and abroad.

  • It takes 32 mins ( 6.9 km ) from Yuyuan Garden to the Jiangnan Silk Factory.

  • Opening hours of Shanghai World Financial Centre: 9:00-22:30 all year round.

  • It takes 25 mins ( 8.7 km ) from Jiangnan Silk Factory to Shanghai World Financial Centre.

Day 3Zhujiajiao Water Town Tour

After breakfast, you will be driven about 50 minutes to visit Zhujiajiao Water Town. Wandering in the town, you can appreciate the unique cultures and buildings of Ming and Qing style, and then experience the boat ride to enjoy the picturesque landscape.

Later, drive back to Shanghai. The rest of today will be free for you to seek other views of the city.

Day 4Shanghai Depature

Farewell to Shanghai. Today our journey comes to an end after a good breakfast. You will be transferred to the airport or train station based on your schedule. Wish you a pleasant journey home.

  • Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport is located in the western suburb of Shanghai, about 13 kilometres away from the city centre.

  • Pudong International Airport is located in the coastal area of Pudong, Shanghai, about 30 kilometres away from the city centre

  • There are four railway stations in Shanghai: Shanghai station, Shanghai South Station, Hongqiao Railway Station and Shanghai West station.

  • Hongqiao Railway Station is the busiest high-speed railway station in China. The station realizes zero transfer with aeroplanes, buses, long-distance buses and subways, and there is a direct bus to each railway station.

  • Shanghai railway station is the largest passenger station in Shanghai, and also the departure station between Shanghai and Nanjing. The trains from Shanghai station go to all parts of the country, including special express trains and bullet trains to Beijing and Tianjin, and express trains to Hong Kong.

  • Shanghai South Railway Station is the southern gate of the central city of Shanghai. The train runs mainly through the Yangtze River Delta, the Pearl River Delta and Southern China economic areas, covering a wide range and radiating the whole country.

  • We will upgrade trains to 1st class where available if book the tour 5 months in advance of departure.

Climate and Altitude

Generally speaking Mid March—End Oct are the best time to visit Silk Road. And we strongly suggest you come in May, June, October to avoid the heat and crowd. No need to worry about high altitude along the Silk Road. We will prepare Oxygen bags if the package includes Xiahe, Qinghai Lake and Taxkorgan County.

  • Cancellation prior 15-29 days – 15% charge of the total land cost.

  • Cancellation prior 7-15 days – 30% charge of the total land cost.

  • Cancellation prior 2-7 days – 50% charge of the total land cost.
