Day 1Visit Binglings Temple and Liujiaxia Dam

Let's start our Lanzhou tours today. As one of the important cities along the ancient Silk Road, Lanzhou has preserved many cultural heritages. The Yellow River, the Chinese Mother River, runs through the city, ensuring rich crops of many juicy and fragrant fruits.

With an early start today, we will visit the Binglings Temple. Taking the 40mins fast boat to the inside of the park, enjoy the variety of artworks in different styles and observe the social situations and customs in ancient times when seeing the stone sculptures and appreciate the miracle of Buddha caves.

Later, You will be driven to the Liujiaxia Dam and then you will take a fast boat to cross the gorge where you will enter the Bingling Temple Grottoes, which you will discover are above the water. These caves, which stretch for 200 meters, were built during the 3rd and 18th centuries. They are highly valued for their contribution to research into the history of Chinese paintings and the spread of Buddhism during that time.

Day 2Lanzhou City Tour

Morning meet our professional tour guide at your located hotel lobby, and tour begin with Gansu Province Museum, which is one of the best sights in the city and a visit is well worthwhile. Then pay a visit to the White Pagoda Park located in the north of Lanzhou City, which owes its name to the amazing White Pagoda within it, is a pure white from top to bottom with the exception of the green top which greatly enhances the glamour of the whole building. And travel to the First Bridge of Yellow River, it is the first highway bridge in the ancient Yellow River, also the second city steel bridge in China. Visit the Waterwheel Garden, which is a theme garden exhibiting the waterwheel culture. Here, we could appreciate the waterwheel driven by the flowing water all year round to collect water from the river or cofferdam.

  • When traveling in Gansu, you will need to bring more headscarves or dust masks. Especially in the spring when the sand weather is common, there are dust storms.

Climate and Altitude

Generally speaking Mid March—End Oct are the best time to visit Silk Road. And we strongly suggest you come in May, June, October to avoid the heat and crowd. No need to worry about high altitude along the Silk Road. We will prepare Oxygen bags if the package includes Xiahe, Qinghai Lake and Taxkorgan County.
