14-Day Hulunbuir Grassland & Mohe Arctic China Adventure

Depart from the origin to Hulunbuir City, home to one of the world’s three major grasslands. After airport pickup, check into the hotel to rest. Overnight in Hailar.

After breakfast, head deep into the Hulunbuir Grassland to visit the Morigele River, praised by the Chinese writer Lao She as “the First Winding Water under Heaven.” Enjoy the grassland scenery. Afterwards, proceed to the border city Manzhouli. Upon arrival, tour Matryoshka Square, see the world’s largest Matryoshka and exotic architecture, and watch a special circus performance to experience the customs of China, Mongolia, and Russia. After dinner, tour the Sino-Soviet Gold Street. Overnight in Manzhouli.

After breakfast, drive along the China-Russia border to 186 Colored Ribbon River. Upon arrival, experience grassland archery and the 1000-meter grass sliding track. Head to Aobao Mountain to learn about Mongolian Aobao sacrifice culture. Afterwards, drive to Heishantou Grassland Horse Farm for a grassland horse riding experience (deep riding crossing, duration no less than 1 hour). Then proceed to the grassland yurt camp. Upon arrival, receive the grandest Mongolian “dismounting wine” welcome ceremony. After dinner, join the grassland bonfire party. Overnight in a Grassland Yurt.

Watch the grassland sunrise in the morning. After breakfast, head to Ergun Wetland, an important area for world bird protection and Asia’s First Wetland. Admire pristine natural landscapes like Horseshoe Island. Ergun Wetland is an important habitat for the endangered Swan Goose and a breeding ground for Red-crowned Cranes. Afterwards, visit the Bread Museum to personally experience Leba (bread) making and learn about Russian Leba culture. Cross the primitive forest of the Greater Khingan Range to Genhe, known as China’s “Cold Pole.” Overnight in Genhe.

After breakfast, head to Aoluguya Reindeer Tribe, China’s only ethnic group raising reindeer and the last hunting tribe. Visit the Ewenki Primitive Tribe Reindeer Park and the Ewenki National Museum. This is the departure point for China’s Santa Claus and the hometown of reindeer culture and birch bark culture. After lunch, drive to Mohe, China’s northernmost county-level city (passing through Jinhe and ManGui). Overnight in Mohe.

After breakfast, visit Polar Star Square to see the landmark sculpture of Mohe, known as the “Crown of the Golden Rooster.” Then, drive to Nine Curves and Eighteen Turns in the Greater Khingan Range, listed in the “International Important Wetlands List” and an important habitat for terrestrial wildlife. Then, visit Dragon River First Bay Scenic Area (Gold Ring Island), a unique landscape formed by the rapid turning of the Heilongjiang River. Afterwards, proceed to Wusuli Shallow Beach, China’s northernmost point. Finally, head to Arctic Village. Overnight in Arctic Village.

After breakfast, visit the Arctic Village landmark, the Shenzhou Arctic Stone Tablet, which corresponds to the “Southern Sky Column” at Tianya Haijiao. Then, go to the Northernmost Post Office to stamp memorable postmarks on postcards. Visit Rouge Ditch (also known as Old Gold Ditch), famous for gold production. Head to Guanyin Mountain to view the Forest Sea Guanyin (the original body of the Sanya Nanshan Guanyin statue). Return to Mohe. Overnight in Mohe.

After breakfast, visit the May 6th Fire Memorial Hall to deeply understand the real scenes of the disaster through exhibitions like “Source of Fire,” “City Melting in Fire,” etc. After lunch, drive to Huma. Overnight in Huma.

After breakfast, drive to Eighty-Li Great Bay Scenic Area, named after the huge 80-li S-shape bend of the Heilongjiang River. Climb the tower to view the fields on both banks. Then, head to Daheihe Island, location of the Heihe port. Visit the Folk Trade Market, Botanical Garden, and Riverside Park. After dinner, check into the hotel. Overnight in Heihe.

After breakfast, drive to Wudalianchi Scenic Area, a UNESCO World Geopark. Visit the Wudalianchi World Geological Park Museum. Then go to Wenpo to experience the three wonders (high magnetism, hot springs in cold areas, three scenes in one pool). Proceed to White Dragon Lake (the third pool), the most vast and magnificent of the five pools, to enjoy the reflection of mountains.

After breakfast, head to Longmen Stone Fort Scenic Area, named for its stone shapes resembling high city walls. View the volcanic lava rock formations. Then visit Southern Gelaqiu Mountain, the highest volcano in the Wudalianchi group, and see the “Jade on the Top of the Volcano,” the Southern Gelaqiu Mountain Heavenly Lake. Afterwards, drive to Qiqihar

After breakfast, visit Zhalong National Nature Reserve, listed in the “International Important Wetlands List” and the world’s largest breeding ground for Red-crowned Cranes. Watch the crane release. Then drive to Harbin, the “Ice City.” Upon arrival, go to Volga Manor to visit St. Nicholas Cathedral and Pavlov Castle. Overnight in Volga Manor.

After breakfast, tour Ice and Snow World. Then visit Central Street, a popular spot in Harbin. Visit Sophia Church and the Flood Control Monument. Stroll through the Chinese Baroque Historic Culture Street to view the Baroque architecture complex. Dinner at Hongmen Imperial Kitchen (costume experience).

After breakfast, transfer to the airport. End of the trip.
