Welcome to Kashgar! Whether you arrive by flight to Kashgar or cross the border from Kyrgyzstan via the Torugart or Irkeshtam pass, our friendly guide or driver will meet you at the airport, train station, or border. Afterward, you'll check in to your hotel, and the rest of the day will be free for you to explore China's westernmost city.
Today, you will enjoy a full-day excursion in Kashgar. At 9:00, pay a visit to Id Kah Mosque, the largest mosque in China and the most sacred one for locals to conduct their Islamic activities. Then, at 10:30, continue the visit to Old Town, where you can witness the opening ceremony of the Maxilap show. Come and join the exciting activities in this well-preserved Uighur residential area. Our highlight: Relax in the Hundred-Year Tea House and taste the local rose tea and nang-bread!
After having lunch at a local restaurant, continue to visit Handicraft Street. It gathers hundreds of handicraft workshops and has become a boutique exhibition of handicrafts in Kashgar and Central Asia.
The tour starts with a nice buffet at the hotel. Then, at around 09:00, we will start driving and it will take about 4 hours to reach Karakul Lake.
After 1 hour of driving, we will make a stop at Opal Village for a rest. There, you can stroll around the local bazaar and experience the traditional local lifestyle.
Continuing along the Karakorum Highway, we will enjoy the majestic views of the sand dunes, mountains, and sandstone valley, as well as the Hindu Kush Mountains and the Himalayas. The Karakorum Highway is the world's highest cross-border road and one of the most thrilling corridors. You can go trekking around Karakul Lake, enjoying the magnificent landscape and experiencing the nomadic lifestyle of the local Kirghiz people in their yurts.
We will return to Kashgar around 19:00.
After breakfast, we will visit the Sunday Bazaar starting around 09:00 when the market begins. Watch as local farmers arrive happily with their donkey carts——it's fascinating to observe their traditional bargaining methods.
This is China's only remaining livestock market, where you can experience authentic animal trading just like in the ancient Silk Road times.
After lunch, we'll stop at a supermarket for supplies before boarding our overnight train.

Our guide will meet you at the train station and accompany you to the hotel for freshening up. We may check into the hotel if the rooms are ready. Then, we will drive to Tuyoq Valley, an ancient oasis-village. Before exploring this traditional village, which is surrounded by impressive grape trellises and has stories of adventurers from all over the world, we will have lunch at a local Uighur family's home.
Next, we will make our way to Bezekilik Thousand Buddha Caves. These are a complex of Buddhist cave grottos dating from the 5th to 14th century, located between the cities of Turpan and Shanshan (Loulan) in the northeast of the Taklamakan Desert, near the ancient ruins of Gaochang in the Mutou Valley.
After lunch, we will head to the Karez Well irrigation system, which helps produce some of the best melons and grapes in China. Today's tour will end with a 2-hour exploration of Jiaohe Ruins. Resembling Pompeii but 300 years older, it is a Chinese archaeological site located in the Yarnaz Valley, 10 km west of Turpan City. It is a natural fortress situated atop a steep cliff on a leaf-shaped plateau between two deep river valleys, where you can experience the way of life of the Uygur ancestors.
