How to get to Tibet


Most foreign tourists typically choose to enter from either Kathmandu in Nepal or Mainland China to enter Tibet. 

(1)Enter Tibet from Mainland China by plane or train: 

If your time is limited, flying is the best choice. The following cities fly to Lhasa Gonggar Airport or other airports in Tibet: Chengdu, Beijing, Xi’an, Xining, Kunming, Chongqing, Shangri La, Shanghai, Guangzhou, etc. The flight time ranges from 2 hours to 7 hours.

Depending on the city where you take the train, the train time varies from 22 hours to 55 hours.

(2)Enter Tibet by Plane from Nepal: 

If you come from Nepal, the quickest and easiest way to get to Tibet is by plane. The flight departs from Kathmandu and flies directly to Lhasa Gonggar International Airport, with a flight time of about 90 minutes.
