The Tibetan people have a deep and sincere belief in Buddhism. You may try to engage with the local pilgrims, stand in the scorching sun at the square of Jokhang Temple, and experience the profound piety that fills the air. You can learn from the locals, observe how they lie prostrate on the ground, and feel their devotion and faith. These moments will allow you to connect with your spirituality and speak to Buddha from your heart.

Photography at Potala Palace

Visiting Potala Palace is a must for anyone traveling to Tibet as it is a magnificent symbol of Tibetan culture. When you arrive here, I suggest you take a photo of the reflection of Potala Palace in the water in the square. The reflection of the white Potala Palace in the lake is visible, and seagulls fly freely in the sky. This picture will be a classic existence. It is worth noting that refrain from taking photos after entering Potala Palace.

Enjoy the Starry Night Sky above Namtso

When you travel Tibet, be sure not to miss out on Namtso. The lake is crystal clear, reflecting the blue sky and white clouds. The distant snow-capped mountains are mirrored in the lake, creating a fairy-tale-like scenery. However, the most breathtaking experience at Namco is the starry sky at night. The lake is filled with twinkling stars, making it feel like you have wandered into the Milky Way. This enchanting beauty can only be truly appreciated through personal experience.

In Tibet, there are numerous temples where monks recite scriptures daily. These monks engage in fascinating debates, which you can witness firsthand with permission from the local temples. Watching them debate sutras is an experience that leaves you amazed.

Watch a Sunrise on the Plateau

Watching a sunrise on a snowy plateau can be a unforgettable experience. Despite the cold  weather, seeing the sun climb above the sacred mountain and paint the snow-capped peak red is really breathtaking.

Have a Cup of Hot Tea at the Tibetan Home

If you're tired of walking and need a break, you can visit a Tibetan home and enjoy tea. They will warmly welcome you, sharing their lifestyle and stories while you savor their delicious tea. You’ll be amazed at how time flies in their hospitable company.

Prayer FlagsPrayer Flags

Experience Throwing Prayer Flags

Tibet has many places where colorful flags are hung. These colorful flags are called prayer flags, which are full of scriptures. Tibetans believe that prayer flags can eliminate disasters and bring blessings, so they use them for prayers. If you are lucky enough to meet Tibetans who turn mountains, you can join them and let the wind bring the best wishes to Buddha.

Drink Highland Barley Wine

Drinking Tibetan highland barley wine is an essential experience. When visiting a Tibetan home, there are rules to follow to drink. They will respect distant guests with three glasses of wine, and guests should take the glass with both hands and take a sip. The host will then fill it up for them. After repeating this three times, guests can drink the entire glass at once.

Experience a Welcoming Ceremony to Accept "Hada"

"Hada" is a symbol of purity and the noblest gift for Tibetan people to welcome distant guests. Therefore, when you arrive in Tibet, you should experience a welcoming ceremony to accept Hada. However, you should note that when accepting Hada, you need to raise your hands above your head and lean forward slightly. Holding them in your hands or wear them on your wrists. Avoid bending over, and never accept them with one hand.
