Yuexiu Park is one of the most famous parks in Guangzhou, located in the city center. The most renowned attraction within the park is the Five Rams Statue, which serves as a symbol of Guangzhou. The five stone rams seems to be narrating the ancient legends of Guangzhou. Climbing up Yuexiu Hill offers a panoramic view of the bustling urban landscape of Guangzhou, with the skyscrapers along the Zhujiang(Pearl) River visible at a glance.Ascending Zhenhai Tower allows visitors to admire the grandeur of this ancient architecture and feel the historical charm of Guangzhou. In addition, the park is shaded by lush green trees, with flowers blooming all year round, making it an ideal place for people to take a leisurely walk.

The Five Rams Statue is located in Yuexiu Park, and serves as a symbolic landmark of the city. According to legend, five immortals rode five colorful rams to Guangzhou, and after the immortals left, the rams turned into stone, bringing prosperity and good fortune to the region. The statue, carved from over 130 pieces of granite, features five rams in various lifelike poses. It is not only a symbol of Guangzhou but also an important cultural icon of the Lingnan region, attracting numerous visitors to admire its beauty.

Zhenhai TowerZhenhai Tower.jpg

Zhenhai Tower is one of the “Eight Attractions of the Ram City”, located on Yuexiu Hill. Originally constructed in the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty (1376), it is a three-storey ancient building made of brick and wood, standing 28 meters tall. With its majestic appearance, it is one of the oldest existing structures in Guangzhou. The tower houses the Guangzhou Museum, which features exhibitions on Guangzhou's history, showcasing the city's development from ancient times to the present. Climbing Zhenhai Tower, visitors can not only enjoy a panoramic view of the bustling urban landscape of Guangzhou but also gain insights into the city's history and culture.

Tuesday to Sunday: 9:00-17:30, with ticket collection and entry stopping at 17:00.

Closed on Mondays (except for national public holidays).

The Sun Yat-sen Monument, built in 1929, was erected in memory of Sun Yat-sen, a pioneer of China's modern democratic revolution. Standing about 50 meters tall, the monument has an octagonal main body and is topped with a large bronze statue of Sun Yat-sen, who is depicted wearing a Zhongshan suit, gazing resolutely towards the north. The monument is inscribed with Sun Yat-sen's famous words, "Peace, Struggle, Save China," which continues to inspire future generations. This site is not only an important historical landmark in Guangzhou but also a significant place for people to pay their respects to the pioneers and honor the revolutionary spirit.

The History behind Yuexiu Park


Yuexiu Hill is the starting point of Guangzhou's traditional central axis, and it has the most related landscapes selected in the "Eight Attractions of the Ram City" throughout the dynasties. Within the park, the Ming Dynasty city wall has a history of over 600 years. And the remains of the Four-Square Battery records the bloodshed of the resistance against invaders during the Opium War. They all reflect the development and changes of Guangzhou. Yuexiu Park has also hosted national leaders like Mao Zedong and Liu Shaoqi and foreign leaders such as Nixon and Sihanouk.



Best Time to Visit

The best seasons to visit Yuexiu Park in Guangzhou are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November)

In spring, the pleasant weather and blooming flowers create a dreamlike scene, especially during the cherry blossom season. The Guangzhou Garden Expo is also held during this time. 

In autumn, the park hosts flower exhibitions, and the cool, comfortable weather is perfect for leisurely strolls. 

Although summer is hot, the park's lush greenery and lakes provide shade and a cool retreat, making it another good option.

It is recommended to visit between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM or between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM to avoid the midday heat.
